A Northern Belle Christmas Party

Friday 3rd December 2021 saw the Ashley & Newey team take a well-earned break aboard the Northern Belle Train service to enjoy their Christmas Party. Like everybody, the past 18 months have been a very testing period for us. So, it was heartwarming to be able to reward and celebrate the work each member of our team has contributed in style.

The Northern Belle is styled on the 1930s a golden age in rail travel, a period when travelling was seen as an event not a necessity. This was reflected by carriages furnished with art nouveau lamps, plush armchairs and dining tables. Reflecting on how in this period traveling by rail was glamorous and all about providing comfort to passengers.

As our train pulled out of Darlington the friendly sommelier explained the 6-hour route we were about to undertake. Stating we would be passing through many locations we include in our tours including Durham, Newcastle, and Carlisle before returning home via a detour along the Northeast coast passing through coastal towns of Seaham and Seaton Carew.

This gave us ample time to enjoy festive cuisine. Featuring smoked salmon starter, parsnip soup, turkey with festive trimmings, cheese course and a delicious chocolate roulade desert. All the while through the journey numerous entertainers passed through the carriages with acts ranging from magic tricks to musicians playing Christmas tunes.

Providing the perfect setting for our team to reflect and celebrate the hard work we have gone through this year to build Ashley & Newey into the position it is today. Meanwhile giving our new members of the team a chance to get to know their fellow colleagues better and feel fully part of the team. A thoroughly enjoyable festive day out!

“And well deserved – added our boss Ashley Booth – a year ago we were pondering on how the future would look and due to the tremendous work of everybody in our team and support of our customers we saw our way through the setbacks to build on our promise of inspirational holidays for all our guests”
