The Crown Spa Hotel Scarborough

Our visit to Scarborough resulted from a change in hotel management and our own eagerness to review the past seasons performance. I met with Martin and Amanda to discuss our clients’ needs during group stays and meals in particular. Their bubbly attitude and keen nature showed real passion for the hotel and the experience they offer.

The hotel retains real historic charm with tall ceilings, long corridors and winding staircases, (don’t worry, there is also a lift!) which adds to the experience of staying in the hotel. Many bedrooms at the hotel offer a sea-view for a small supplement, but even rear-view rooms have good quality facilities and a reasonable amount of space to relax after a day out in Scarborough or further afield.

Recently refurbished, the reception/lounge area provides a comfortable place to perch overlooking the seafront with a hot drink ahead of a day’s excursions. The hotels restaurant is cosy and warm, with separate breakfast and dinner areas and attentive staff at each meal. The hotel has recently employed an additional 3 chefs on a long-term contract from a cookery school in Europe and the offerings for groups are delicious, varied and appropriate for the type of client who travel on coach holidays.

Breakfast has a variety of options from self-serve continental options, pastries and fruit to plated hot breakfasts. Perfect to fuel ahead of a busy day exploring North Yorkshire! Whilst coach parking isn't available on-site, it is located just a short walk away from the hotel with drop-off immediately outside the hotel.

Ashley & Newey’s relationship with the Crown Spa has gone from strength to strength over the past year and under new management, the hotels understanding of coach group requirements have been strongly placed at the forefront of the teams mind here. The hotel General Manager, Martin, has a wealth of experience catering to groups elsewhere in Yorkshire and this has clearly transferred to the Crown Spa since his arrival.
