- Exciting changes as Ashley & Newey team continues growth
Ashley and Newey are delighted to announce the appointment of Sarah Briggs as their new Sales and Marketing Executive.
You may already know Sarah from her role as Reservations Administrator, having joined the company in October 2017. Yes – she’s the one that makes sure those rooming lists get to the hotels on deadline! From April she will moving over to join the Sales Team – although she will still be on hand to support the reservations role going forward.
“One of the highlights of my job has been getting to know coach operator and hotel staff across the UK over the phone,” she says. “I’m looking forward to actually getting to meet more of our customers and clients in person, helping them build their business too.”
Sarah started her career in the travel industry working on campsites in France, later moving to an Area Manager Role covering France, Spain, Italy and Switzerland. Back in the UK, she spent winter months as a Sales Executive promoting the holidays to travel agents up and down the country, including rolling up at exhibitions with a fully equipped tent. ‘’The other reps would turn up with brochures and a pop up stand. Meanwhile I’d be setting up the tent before doing a quick change into a business suit at the last minute!’’ she explains.
After time spent working and travelling abroad, she settled back in the North East, working in retail, direct sales and graphic design whilst bringing up two daughters. She later returned to work in the travel industry, dealing with on-line listings for holiday home rentals in Florida and the UK.
Before starting at Ashley and Newey she worked independently with owners of holiday accommodation to help improve their sales and advertising before moving to her role with Ashley and Newey.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with Ashley and Newey where working with such a friendly team has always been a bonus. I’m looking forward to the challenges of a new role which builds on the knowledge gained over the past 5 years and putting faces to the names.”
“Despite the unpredictable weather, there are so many amazing places to visit across the UK and living through lockdown makes you appreciate the freedom to travel even more. It is so rewarding to be part of a team that helps put together the tours and opportunities for people to explore what the UK has to offer.’’
