Celebrating our Railway Heritage Connections

The Ashley and Newey office is based in Darlington, County Durham. The town is famous for the Stockton to Darlington Railway - the first public railway to use steam locomotives in 1825.

In the run-up to the 200-year anniversary of the railway, a new Head of Steam Visitor Centre is due to open in the town. To commemorate this and the region’s railway heritage, Ashley was excited to get back in the driving seat. He’s been the driving force behind a brand new tour for 2024 - Time Travellers Retreat and Journeys of the North.

This unique new tour blends history and scenic beauty on a captivating journey through some of the most historically significant destinations in Northeast England. You'll step back in time to explore the birthplace of steam locomotives and indulge in a delightful mix of experiences. Enjoy a river cruise on The Teesside Princess, visit Beamish Museum, and take a ride on the Weardale Railway. You'll also discover more about the railway history of the region with a visit to both the Head of Steam and Locomotion visitors centres.

Based at Redworth Hall Hotel - itself a stunning Jacobean House - we’ve already had lots of interest in our Summer 2024 dates. For more information or to register early interest for 2025 dates, please email info@ashleynewey.co.uk.
